Our History

My name is Wil Pakeman. A few years ago my mother was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. I wanted to help children at a young age develop good eating habits, along with exercise so that they can live fuller more productive lives. I came up with a series of books that follows the characters’ ups & downs and their quest to become healthier!

We have visited schools, and day cares where we've read to them, exercised along with music, and left a positive outlook for their future. And the kids just love our characters! If you would like us to visit your school, please leave your information in the (contact us) section. We invite you to join us in our quest to encourage our youth and assist them in living a healthier life!

Our Mission:

We aspire to assist our youth by developing a healthier lifestyle while teaching them to make better food choices along with consistent and engaging exercise. Part of the proceeds we derive from each sale will be donated to the UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital for diabetes research. We will make a difference one child at a time!

How We Promote Healthy Habits for Children

At Healthy Children Books, we make learning about healthy living fun, engaging, and easy for children to understand. Our work is designed to support parents, schools, and communities in encouraging positive habits from an early age.

  • Create children’s books focused on nutrition and healthy habits
We develop engaging, age-appropriate books that introduce kids to healthy eating, balanced choices, and active lifestyles through relatable characters and simple storytelling.

  • Visit schools and daycares
We partner with schools, preschools, and daycare centers to bring our books directly to children in a familiar and supportive learning environment.

  • Read stories and encourage movement-based activities
Our interactive sessions combine storytelling with light physical activity, helping children connect healthy habits with fun and movement.

  • Educate children in a positive, non-preachy way
We believe children learn best when lessons feel enjoyable. Our approach avoids pressure or fear, focusing instead on curiosity, encouragement, and confidence.

Through stories, interaction, and real-world engagement, we aim to inspire children to develop healthy habits that can last a lifetime.
